When the temperature fluctuates between plus and frost degrees icicles can form from the gutter.

This thermostat helps to prevent the formation of icicles, as it can be set to detect when the temperature fluctuates between plus and freezing temperatures. Therefore, the thermostat will turn the cable in the gutter on, so the ice in the gutter remains melted and does not form icicles.
